Request by Original Filer

  • Filing Requirements:
  • Request for Redaction
  • Redacted copy of document (added as an attachment)
  • Filing Fee: $28.00
NOTE: The fee is for filing a request to redact, per affected case.

Note: A closed case does not need to be reopened to file a redaction request made by the original filer.

To File Electronically:

  1. Log into CM/ECF.
  2. Select [Bankruptcy > Miscellaneous] or [Bankruptcy > Claim Actions].
  3. Enter the case number (e.g, xx-xxxxx).
  4. Select [Letter Requesting Redaction] or [Letter Requesting Redaction of Claim Related Document] from the event list.
  5. Select the party filer. If the party is not listed, click on Add/Create New Party.
Note: The Attorney/Party Association screen may appear. If your party selection was correct, check the box to create an association.
  6. Answer question regarding original filer.
  7. Browse to select the Letter (.pdf file).
Note: In addition to your letter requesting redaction, you MUST ADD the redacted PDF as an attachment.
  8. Refer to the document being redacted. Note: If this is a claims redaction, do NOT check the box to refer to an existing event.
  9. When filing a redaction request under Claim Actions, select appropriate claim number.
  10. To pay via credit card, leave the receipt field blank and select NEXT to continue filing.
  11. Modify the text as appropriate.
  12. Verify the final docket text; if correct, click [Next] to submit your document(s).
Note: The Notice of Electronic Filing displays giving you the document number. Copies of this notice are immediately e-mailed to all participants who receive electronic notification in the case.
