Service Requirement: Filing electronically through CM/ECF satisfies service only for registered electronic users. You must mail a paper copy of this filing to any party who is not a registered CM/ECF user and file a Certificate of Service.
Step 1 - Event Selection
Select the CM/ECF event that most closely matches the document being filed. Choosing the correct event helps ensure the document is properly docketed and served.

Document Preparation Requirements
- Documents are saved as PDF files.
- Text is clear, readable, and properly oriented.
- The document is signed (typed “/s/ Name” is acceptable for electronic filers.

Step 3 - Review
Carefully review all entries on the final screen, including the case number, event selection, and attached documents. Once submitted, filings become part of the official court record.

Filing Deadlines and Applicable Timeframes
Filing deadlines are governed by statue, rule, court order, or notice. CM/ECF records the date and time of filing based on court time. Filing after a deadline may have procedural consequences.

Filing Review and Common Errors
After Electronically Filing
- A Notice of Electronic Filing (NEF) will appear on screen.
- Registered users will receive the NEF by email.
- A NEF serves as proof of filing, save or print the NEF for your records.
